WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT (WE) CONFERENCE AT EMPIRE STATE PLAZA
The WE conference will be an all-day event which will take place on Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. The conference will be broken into three parts.
The first portion of the event will be devoted to the morning plenary which will run from 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. During this portion attendees will hear from our guest speakers and keynote speaker. From 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. we will offer lunch to all-day ticket holders. Please note that at this time, only morning plenary session tickets are available.
The second portion of the conference will be devoted to workshops which will run from 1:30 p.m. – 5:15 p.m.
The workshops, which will be led by local experts, will focus on themes including tools on how to engage in political activism, creating safe environments in schools for LGBTQ+ students, how to run for office, and how to empower and uplift women of color.
These workshops will not only supply information about the issues in question, but also give attendees the chance to exchange ideas and forge connections within the community. Discussion will be a key component of these smaller gatherings.
Following the workshops, we will all come together to enjoy refreshments and a meal, before hearing from our final keynote speaker Lacey Schwartz, co-founder of Truth-Aid and director, producer and co-author of the critically-acclaimed documentary Little White Lie
